With the proliferation of COVID-19, parents of school age children are scrambling to secure safe child care as they go back to work. Parents who once depended on camps and day care are questioning how safe it is to have their children attend programs with many children enrolled. Remember when you were entering your 20s? You were unstoppable, defining your world and looking forward to a bright future filled with good health and the rewards of an unbridled thirst for a successful career, right?

Those were Victoria’s dreams, too. Career minded and engaged to be married, Victoria’s dreams were shattered within seconds when a car smashed into hers at a high rate of speed. She spent the next year in the hospital fighting for her life.

Doctors couldn’t determine if or when she might open her eyes again or breathe on her own, but she eventually did, although she had to spend a year in the hospital. Her father and step brothers were elated at the progress she made.

After an arduous year for Victoria and her family, she was finally home, this time in a wheelchair. Her stepbrothers had built ramps for her to get to her front door using her wheelchair. Adapting to her new life with SYNERGY HomeCare’s caregivers around the clock, with the use of one arm and forever mobile by wheelchair, was extremely hard for this lively young woman.

The Agent Orange Benefits Act became law 1996. This law established a benefits package for the children of veterans who were born with spina bifida as a result of exposure during wartime service in either Korea or Vietnam. The Agent Orange Benefits Act provides lifetime healthcare services for those born with spina bifida and other disabilities associated with this condition.
