WHAT MAKES SYNERGY HOMECARE DIFFERENT?
About SYNERGY HomeCare of Ellicott City
SYNERGY HomeCare of Ellicott City was built on a simple belief: that families deserve more than a caregiver. They deserve a care team.
Founded by Dr. Hetal Shah Khurana, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, SYNERGY HomeCare of Ellicott City was created to solve what too many families experience: fragmented care, poor coordination, and a healthcare system that leaves people navigating it alone. She built the agency she wished had existed. That purpose drives everything we do today.
What We Specialize In
Our caregivers are trained in specific specialty areas and every care plan is tailored to match, because complex needs require more than a generalist.

- Post-Discharge & Care Transitions: clinically coordinated support to prevent readmissions and ensure a safe return home
- Stroke Recovery: rehabilitative support and caregiver consistency during recovery
- Post-Surgery Care: hands-on support to promote healing, safety, and independence
- Cancer Care: compassionate, flexible support tailored to treatment schedules and changing needs
- Disability Support: personalized care plans that promote dignity and independence
- Spinal Conditions: mobility assistance and safety-focused care for spinal injuries or chronic conditions

Meet the Team
A clinically led, compassionate team built around one purpose: making sure your loved one gets the care they truly deserve.
Dr. Hetal Shah Khurana, DPT

Founder & Owner
Hetal Shah Khurana didn’t build SYNERGY HomeCare of Ellicott City because it was a business opportunity. She built it because she’d spent years inside healthcare watching the same gaps go unfilled: poor care coordination, families unaware of available resources, and no one connecting the dots.
When her own family needed care, she experienced those gaps from the other side. Even with her clinical background, she found herself piecing together information, chasing coordination, and wishing someone would just take ownership and guide them through it.
That experience didn’t leave her. It became SYNERGY HomeCare of Ellicott City.
Today, Dr. Shah leads a clinical team collaborating directly with discharge planners, social workers, and physicians across Howard and Baltimore County, ensuring every family gets more than a caregiver. They get a care team.

Aryn Austin

Client Services Manager & Care Coordinator
Aryn Austin’s path to senior care was shaped by love, loss, and a lifelong instinct to show up for others. Growing up in Rockville as the youngest of five, she lost her oldest brother to cancer at just 17, a moment that deepened her commitment to compassion and being present for people in their most vulnerable seasons.
That calling led her to emergency veterinary care, and eventually back to her own family, when caring for her grandmother through a dementia diagnosis brought her to senior care for good.
Aryn joined SYNERGY in October 2025 and her favorite part of the role is the people: listening to their stories and making sure every family feel genuinely supported. She is also working toward becoming a Certified End-of-Life Doula, reflecting her commitment to providing comfort and care at every stage of life.
When she’s not at work, you’ll find her hiking, road tripping, hosting game nights, or spending time with family.
Jessica Boyd

Jessica personally leads the hiring process, selecting caregivers based on clinical competency, character, and genuine compassion. She knows firsthand what exceptional caregiving looks like and will not settle for anything less. Once hired, she mentors and trains caregivers in specialty care areas, holding the team to the highest standards every day.
