I’m Michael Mantong, and I am currently residing in Long Beach with my wife, Tevy, and two children, Audrey and Ethan. I have a great love for Southern California and have lived here all my life.
I’d like to share my story with you about why I transitioned from a successful 25-year career in the financial services industry, helping people plan their retirements to caring for people and families as the owner of SYNERGY HomeCare of Huntington Beach today.
During my financial services career, I helped thousands of individuals and families with their finances, with much of it focused on retirement planning. Many clients became like family because I learned about their hopes and dreams, and we often shared what was most important; the relationships with those we loved.
It didn’t take me long to see that health insurance didn’t cover a lot of expenses when it came to in-home care for aging clients. This is what motivated me to offer long term care insurance (LTC) in my business; aging individuals need to know they’ll have the coverage and resources for future healthcare costs.
To this day, I am pleased to have offered LTC insurance to my retirement planning business. One gentleman comes to mind when I think about my former career—he had LTC insurance. He has since passed, but I often visited him as he had no family when he was with us. He had back surgery that went terribly wrong, and his LTC insurance was what allowed him to stay within the comfort of his own home for the remainder of his life, instead of living in a nursing facility. LTC insurance paid for him to have in-home care by a professional caregiver who did everything for him, from dressing to meal preparation to housekeeping. The part I played in his life will never leave me, as it’s a special kind of feeling to know that something I did made such a meaningful impact on his life.
My appeal for providing home care arose simply by me wanting to ensure those who need care are treated with the same respect and compassion I’d give to my own family while maintaining their independence in the home they love.
