We are Kelly & Sarah Engelhardt of SYNERGY HomeCare in Paradise Valley, AZ. Our office was borne of the desire we have to encourage families and help people live life to the fullest.
As the daughter of a long-time family caregiver and a hospice volunteer, I have witnessed first-hand the toll that caring for a love one can exact. My mother worked in nursing homes and assisted living communities all my growing up years. In addition, she served as my grandmother’s primary caregiver for over 15 years. Both of these roles were immensely fulfilling and at the same time very challenging. My mother’s emotional and physical health has suffered due to the overwhelming nature of caring for her mom. Although she says she wouldn’t change a thing, she does look back and wishes she would have asked for help. I admire my mother deeply for the commitment she made to her mom and at the same time I am sad that she neglected herself in the process. It was this experience that compelled us to open our office. We feel so good about offering hope and peace of mind to our clients because we know life can pass you by when you have the important and all-consuming task of caring for a loved one. As one family caregiver stated (and so many clients have said accurately describes their experience), “Using your service actually let me be a daughter to my mom and not just her caregiver.” We are thrilled that we can be used to provide this immeasurable gift to the families we serve.
While many of our clients are seniors, we can help individuals of any age. We recently cared for a young man who was recovering from Lyme disease, provided homemaking and dressing assistance to a 55 year old woman after shoulder surgery and offered transportation and companionship services to woman in her 40’s after her alcohol treatment program ended. We are dedicated to finding ways to help families forge through the challenges that come their way.
