SYNERGY HomeCare in Conover is owned and operated by the husband-and-wife duo of Angela and Chad Shook, both Newton-Conover High School graduates who have lived and worked in the area throughout their entire lives. Angela was introduced to home care from the years she spent caring for her grandmother, and Chad, a technology and communications expert, was excited to join his wife in providing their hometown with critical, life-improving services.
The Shooks and their team of caregivers assist residents throughout Bethlehem, Catawba, Conover, Claremont, Denver, Hickory, and Sherrills Ford with a range of services, including companion care, personalized in-home assistance, and specialized support for individuals managing chronic health conditions or recovering from illness or surgery.
For several years, Angela was a primary caregiver for her grandmother and her grandmother’s late husband. In that time, she gained a firsthand understanding of the challenges that arise during the aging process, including health complications, medication changes, and ways to support activities of daily living. While she was providing this care, she was also advancing her career in operations management, serving as an Assistant Store Manager at multiple Lowe’s Home Improvement locations in the area and supporting the setup and opening of new stores. She also held roles as a trainer and sales manager at Blumenthal Arts in uptown Charlotte, a customer service representative for Britax Child Safety, and as a certified phlebotomist.
Chad complements Angela’s caregiving prowess with a strong technical and leadership background. Following his graduation from Catawba Valley Community College, also Angela’s alma mater, he pursued a successful career in software engineering. With a certification in machine learning from Cornell University, Chad was able to attain leadership roles with companies such as Fiserv, Bank of America, and, most recently, Charter Communications. Now, he hopes to leverage his technical skills to support Angela as the two launch their family business.
SYNERGY HomeCare in Conover provides a wide range of non-medical care options. Companion care includes assistance with cooking, shopping, running errands, light housekeeping, and other tasks that allow clients to live independently. Personal care assists with bathing, dressing, using the toilet, and other activities of daily life.
