Destine’s journey into the world of caregiving is not just a profession but a calling, nurtured by her personal experiences and
unwavering empathy. Her clients absolutely adore her and that is just one of the many reasons why she is our star Care Professional for May!
Destine’s story is rooted in love and responsibility. Growing up, she found herself taking care of her disabled sister with a level of care and compassion that went beyond her years. This early experience taught her the value of patience, understanding, and the profound impact of lending a helping hand to those in need. Later in life, Destine extended her caregiving skills to her beloved grandfather, further honing her innate ability to provide comfort and support to the elderly. It was during this time that she realized her calling and decided to pursue a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification while still in high school, setting the stage for her future in caregiving. Despite her impressive start in the caregiving field, Destine’s aspirations extend beyond. She harbors dreams of furthering her education in radiology, and continuing to learn and grow professionally.
What sets Destine apart is not just her credentials or career goals but her profound connection with her clients. She doesn’t just provide care; she builds deep, meaningful relationships based on trust, respect, and genuine empathy. In every interaction, Destine brings warmth, understanding, and a reassuring presence, making her clients feel valued and cared for during what can often be a challenging time in their lives. Destine said about the challenges her clients face, “It can be anybody, not just the elderly. It could be you. You want to show them the same compassion that you would want in their position”.
Destine says the hardest part of her job is seeing clients she cares for in pain. In order to help them stay comfortable and calm, she is quick to establish a routine with each client. She is always prepared for whatever the day brings and the clients know what to predict and feel assured while she is there. She is always present and stays connected with her clients and enjoys talking with them and finding little ways to make their days better and put a smile on their face.
Destine’s story is a shining example of the impact one person can have in the lives of others. Her advice to future Care Professionals is to have patience and to treat clients like family. Her journey from a compassionate caregiver within her family to a professional caregiver at SYNERGY HomeCare is a testament to her resilience, kindness, and unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in the world.
