SYNERGY HomeCare in DeLand is led by the four-person leadership team of Louis and Loreena Hernandez, Summer Padilla, and her uncle, Heath Nicola, who supports day-to-day operations as designated manager.
Louis, Loreena, Summer, and Heath assist residents throughout Daytona Park Estates, DeBary, DeLand, Deltona, Edgewater, Enterprise, New Smyrna Beach, North DeLand, Oak Hill, Orange City, Osteen, and Samsula-Spruce Creek with a range of services, including companion care, personalized in-home assistance, and specialized support for individuals managing chronic health conditions or recovering from illness or surgery.
Heath’s entire professional career has been shaped by his passion for improving the quality of life in people of all ages. Upon graduating from college with a degree in health sciences, Heath spent 15 years working as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, with 14 of those years spent in skilled nursing facilities. During that time, he dedicated himself to supporting patients’ physical and emotional well-being, which he further leaned into as his father began to face mobility issues with age.
One of the key skills that Heath learned in nursing facilities was how to have “hard truth” conversations with both clients and families. He isn’t afraid to acknowledge that, yes, some things will be difficult and uncomfortable, but he always delivers on the promise that he will be with his client every step of the way.
SYNERGY HomeCare in DeLand provides a wide range of non-medical care options. Companion care includes assistance with cooking, shopping, running errands, light housekeeping, and other tasks that allow clients to live independently. Personal care assists with bathing, dressing, using the toilet, and other activities of daily life.

Like her uncle, Heath Nicola, Summer also has a background rooted in care, compassion, and the entrepreneurial spirit. Summer grew up watching her father manage multiple auto dealerships, which left an impression on her that one day, she also wanted to become a business owner. After spending five years in sales and finance in that same industry, as well as volunteering at pet shelters and supporting other animal welfare organizations, she felt it was finally time to make her business ownership dream come true.
