Identifying What Kind of Help May be Needed
It’s important to start by understanding what kind of help your loved one may need at home. Home Care and Home Health Care are different, but complementary services. You may need one or both.
- Home Care connects highly-skilled, non-medical caregivers with people who need care at home. Caregivers can perform a variety of tasks, from personal assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming and dressing, to companion care to prevent isolation and loneliness, to support with light housekeeping, meal preparation and errands and transportation.
- Home Health Care refers to a wide range of health care services prescribed by a doctor and provided by a medical professional, such a registered nurse or physical therapist, that can be given in your home for an illness or injury. These include things like wound care and physical, occupational and speech therapy, injections and nutrition therapy.
