Felix Gbee came to the US in 1997 as a refugee fleeing the deadly civil war in his native Liberia.

He later graduated from St Thomas University in Minneapolis and was headed to law school when the Sept. 11 attacks occurred.

I was blown away by what he said: “There was no greater cause than to fight for the country that I loved, the country that welcomed me from the grips of war.”

On Jan. 31, 2002 he enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman. FSO and was later deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraq Freedom in 2004 thru 2005. He earned an Army Commendation Medal for valor actions in combat, an Army Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, a Global Way on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and an Air Assault Badge, Felix was honorably separated from the Military in February 2020 because of medical reasons.

Along the way, as he assimilated in the U.S., he was struck by how the elderly are cared for in their golden years. It concerned him – specifically, how they lose their independence and may not have proper care. He was used to his Liberian culture where caring for the elderly is an honor. This concern was particularly urgent to him amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and Felix wanted to find a way to continue to serve his community.

That led to him and his wife Sabita affiliating with SYNERGY Homecare.

His franchise is located in Leesburg, VA and he has launched with a full-time staff and 7 caregivers. Some of the areas he serves include Leesburg, Purcellville, Hamilton, Waterford, Lovettsville, Round Hill, and Middleburg, Paeonian Springs.
