LTCI BENEFITS COVER THE COST OF HOME CARE
Many seniors have long term care (LTC) insurance policies that help cover the cost of home care. These insurance policies were developed in the 1960’s, and became very popular during the 1990’s and early 2000’s. They have been offered through insurance agents and as an employee benefit. While there are fewer companies offering LTC insurance today, millions of Americans have active policies.
LTC insurance policies cover the cost of home care services. The policies typically require the client to need assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s). ADL’s include bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, transferring, and toileting. LTC insurance companies also recognize the need for meal preparation, medication reminders, transportation, and memory care. Requirements and coverage vary by insurance company and by policy.
